1969 Mustang

1969 Mustang
The Boss 429 could well be among the rarest and many valued muscle cars up to now. As a whole there have been 1,358 Boss 429s made. The foundation from the Boss 429 happens due to NASCAR. Ford was trying to create a Hemi engine that may contend with the famed 426 Hemi from Chrysler in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series (then referred to as "Grand National Division"). NASCAR's homologation rules necessary that a minimum of 500 cars be fitted with this particular motor and sold towards the public. After much consideration, it had been decided by Ford how the Mustang will be the car that could house this new engine.

The Boss 429 engine was based on the Ford 385 engine. The Mustang's body however wasn't wide enough to encompass the large Boss 429 engine and thus, Ford hired Kar Kraft from Dearborn, MI to change existing 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 Mustangs to correctly fit the brand new Boss 429 engine. Kar Kraft was contracted by Ford to produce the Boss 429, because Ford was stretching itself thin across numerous projects. Kar Kraft at that time is at the entire process of creating the Trans-Am Boss 302.

2011 Ford Mustang

2011 Ford Mustang

http://autos.aol.com/article/2011-ford-mustang
2011 Mustang is obviously the 24-valve duratec v6, and it includes twin independent variable camshaft timing (ti-vct) and polished buckets and roller finger followers in the direct-acting mechanical bucket valve train, among other features. Ford officials promise that v6 buyers won't miss the roar of the v8's extra cylinders thanks to a retuned air intake and throaty standard dual. At the sneak-peek event for this new mustang motor, autoblog had the chance to hear the new engine fire up and rev -- and it indeed sounds sporty and purposeful. To be fair, however, we only heard the power train briefly in an enclosed space (a large development garage on Ford's Dearborn campus), so we'll have to wait until it's out in the open and we're behind the. Other noteworthy features of the drivetrain include a deep-sump aluminum oil pan that enables less-frequent 10,000-mile. On the transmission front, ford has fitted a new six-speed 6r60 automatic with hill-start assist that allows for the 30 mpg highway bogey, as well as 19 mpg in the urban cycle (a 25 percent improvement over the 2010's 16 mpg city / 24 mpg highway figures). Prefer to shift for yourself? expect fuel economy to suffer an iota for your enjoyment, with numbers for the six-speed manual falling to 18/29 (2010 my: 18/26). Naturally, with an all-new powertrain and its differing weight properties, Ford's engineers also had to turn their attention to the suspension.

2011 Mustang is also equipped with larger four-wheel abs disc brakes, with 11. Refinements complement advanced features. To reinforce the sporty nature of the 2011 Mustang, all v-6 models will come standard with new instrument cluster graphics, including a speedometer that reads up to 160 mph and a tachometer that reads to 8,000 rpm, reflecting the free-revving style of the new engine. Additional lightweight soundproofing measures help filter unpleasant, high-frequency noises while tuned intake and dual exhaust add the sounds mustang buyers relish. Occupants also benefit from new door seals and a rear wheel arch liner that reduce road noise for a quieter, more enjoyable drive, all with minimal weight gain compared to the 2010 model. Enthusiasts who want a premium performance-oriented mustang v-6 can opt for the new performance package, which will be available august 2010. Designed for driving enthusiasts, the mustang v-6 performance package comprises:. 31 rear axle ratio for quicker off-the-line acceleration.

System, which uses a programmable key that can be set to limit parameters including vehicle top speed, audio volume settings, a safety belt reminder, and speed alert chimes-all of which are presumably in place for velocity-addicted teens. Additional features include lightweight soundproofing and new instrument cluster graphics with a 160 mph speedo and a revised tach for the higher 7,000 redline. Though it's 45 ft-lbs of torque short of the current generation v8, the 2011 Mustang v6 is only 10 horsepower shy of its eight-cylinder predecessor. And while this newly empowered v6 model has us very excited, the prospect of the rumored (and as yet-unconfirmed) return of the 5. 0 liter "coyote" v8 for 2011 makes us downright giddy.

2011 Mustang is epa rated at 19 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, up from 16/24 for the 2010 model. Ford says the new aluminum engine also weighs less than the old v6. Rumors persist that the Mustang GT will get a new 400-hp v8 to keep it ahead of the v6. We found the mustang was the most fun to drive and the easiest to live with, even though it was down on power and short one gear compared to the others. We'll see if these improvements for 2011 address the mustang's shortcomings on paper and keep it on top in the real world. The 2011 Mustang goes on sale in spring 2010.

Other major upgrades to the 2011 Mustang include an even more focused track pack, with a sharper suspension, bigger brakes and grippy Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires, plus the return of the "5.
