Saab Plans Factory Cameras to Allow Buyers to Watch their Vehicle Being Built Online

Starting from next year, Saab will begin installing cameras on the production lines of its Trollhattan factory in Sweden giving buyers the ability to watch their cars being built online from the comfort of their homes [or office...], according to a report from British magazine Whatcar?.

At first customers could receive photos and text messages showing them parts of the production process, such as the marriage of drivetrain and body, but according to Saab's global product manager Christopher McKinnon, the ultimate goal is to use live feeds.

To further strengthen the brand's bond with customers, McKinnon said Saab will also offer buyers the ability to collect their cars straight from the factory next year. German carmakers , including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz offer similar programs to their customers.
