Dainese, the motorcycle leathers maker has remained with Rossi and still is making the red racing leathers for Rossi. While Rossi partnering Ducati will have his Italian fans over the roof, there seems to be a fly in the ointment as Rossi will still need time for his recently operated upon shoulder to fully heal. 2011 Ducati 1198 SP Replacing the 1198 S, the 2011 Ducati 1198 SP includes upgrades such as a slipper clutch and a quick shifter. Ducati has unveiled the 1198 SP Superbike at the INTERMOT Bike Show. The new SP model headlines the changes to the Superbike line, but Ducati also announced stock upgrades to the base 1198 model. The Italian marque revealed a higher spec version of its Supersport entry, the 848 EVO, earlier this year.

The new SP superbike features the same 170 horsepower L-twin from the current 1198. The big news is the Ducati Quick Shifter and sublime suspension. The quick shifter worked very well at Imola and is a very welcome addition on such a technical circuit.

Ducati claim the Diavel is the new shape of power and style combining twin-cylinder heritage and Italian style with confidence to extend the boundaries of motorcycle design. We’re not so sure the boundaries are being that extended that much in actuality, but probably by enough to radically redefine the dynamic of what a power cruiser is. The power cruiser class represented by Harley’s V-Rod, Yamaha’s V-Max and Suzuki’s B-King all combine comfort with superlative straight line performance. Ducati claims to have added a healthy dose of sporting dynamics, primarily by controlling weight.

The Superbikes run 41º for greater top end performance whereas the reduction to just 11º of overlap makes for a stronger bottom end and mid-range. Peak power is 162bhp for the Diavel along with 94lb-ft (127.5Nm) of torque. Like the multi, the clutch is wet and has a slipper function. The greater power over the 150bhp multi is likely due to the different intake and exhaust systems. The Diavel features 58mm headers and large, and functional air intakes along each side of the 17l (4.5 US gallon) tank.

Ducati On Top Podium

Australia's Casey Stoner notched up Ducati's maiden MotoGP victory of the season when he dominated the Aragon Grand Prix from pole to the chequered flag on Sunday.

The 2007 world champion, who started from pole for the 20th time of his career, finished 5.148sec ahead of Spain's Dani Pedrosa (Honda) at the Motorland Aragon circuit in north-east Spain.

American Nicky Hayden, also on a Ducati, made it a memorable day for the Italian bike manufacturers when he trumped Spain's Jorge Lorenzo on the final lap to claim third, at 9.496sec, and deprive the Yamaha rider a podium finish for the first time in 14 races.

"It's been too long between wins, that's for sure," said Stoner, who last won in Malaysia in October last year.

"We started out pretty well this weekend, and we got on with the track. We progressed and got better."

Stoner admitted to having fallen in final preparations ahead of the race, taking a tumble over the white lines at turn 14.

"I was a little bit nervous this morning, but I'm really happy to bring it home," he said. "It was unexpected for us."

"Ducati were very strong, with both riders on the podium.

"I tried everything, I didn't start well but I recovered," he said of his battle with Casey.

Recent news reveals that Ducati Motors is going to launch a spotrs bike, Ducati Multistrada Sport in Indian market soon.It is expected that the powerful motorbike will hit India by early 2010.Ducati recently opened their first bike-store in India by joining hands with Precision Motor India Private Limited which indicates that more motorbikes from Ducati will be launching soon in Indian market.
